Last week, MERIT was featured on the radio program Marketplace, which aired nationally on NPR. The piece focused on MERIT’s work to increase the number of under-represented physicians. Senior Scholar Christiona spoke to the importance of rising above low expectations, asking, “Why can’t I go that extra mile and be a doctor?” MERIT’s Chief Education Officer, Dr. Damien Myers, congratulated Scholars on their accomplishments, but reminded them that hard work will be needed as they embark on the next step of their journey towards becoming health care professionals.
